After pestering John for about 4 years.... He did it and it was perfect.

John and I decided that we need a well-deserved vacation. It was 6 months exactly after John's accident that he recovered amazingly from. I hadn’t been to Florida in probably 20 years and never met his grandpa "John the 3rd". We laid on the beach all day and then went to Ponce De Leon’s lighthouse after a great dinner. After the sunset, we got some cigars and beers which is not unusual and set out for a night stroll.

Well in the distance there was a thunderstorm going on with some amazing lightning. We noticed a lot of other people were out but kind of in the water. John asked them what they were looking for. Apparently there are white stone crabs that ride the tide and people try and catch them. John wanted to try, he told me to hold the flash light while he grabbed one. Not thinking anything of it I’m holding his phone "the flashlight" and he starts running and says I see one!!! He ran not to the ocean and it had to be about 10 feet away, I was thinking how could he see it that far without the flashlight? Naturally I ran after him, when he bent down and I saw a RING in the sand!!! My first reaction was what the hell how did you find that? Then I figured out what was happening, he asked Will YOU MARRY ME and I said ARE YOU SERIOUS YES!!! I was stunned for weeks after. Funny thing is I had no phone to tell anyone because john took it into the ocean in his pocket earlier that day.

Carissa said the propasal part pretty good. I just decided to wing it on the beach. Was just looking for a good way to do it and looking for crabs in the sand washing up was perfect. The best thing about the whole thing was that I wasn't really nervous. To be honest with you I owned the ring for almost a year before that and was going to propose in vegas on new year's eve night. So I snuck it into our luggage twice without her finding it. The whole vegas thing didn't work out because it  did not feel like the right place at the time. The way it all went down ended up to be perfect.
