We met at a house party that Brett Braunecker hosted. Brett was a coworker of Dawn and a fraternity brother of Brad. Dawn almost did not go to the party but her friend Angela convinced her to go. Thank goodness! Brad asked Brett for Dawn's number the next day. Our first date was at the Ram Restaurant in down town Indianapolis in August of 2004. We had enough time before dinner to play some games at Jillian's where Dawn kicked Brad's butt in racing games and still does to this day. After dinner we went to Cracker's Comedy Club. Brad's pager went off multiple times for work, because he was on call 24/7 at that time, and he ignored them all. We ended the night with watching a few episodes of "Boiling Points". We became an official couple on September 19th, 2004. We eventually bought Colts season tickets and enjoyed a whole season of going to games before we moved to a suburb of Chicago. After 5 months of bad traffic, only one set of friends nearby (Hi Paul and Marcy!) and not that great of a job for Brad, he started a job hunt. We moved to Nashville, TN for Brad's new job with Emdeon at the end of September 2006. Dawn started working at a health coaching company called Gordian Health Solutions in Nov of 2006. We've both been at the same jobs since then. We bought a house in Old Hickory, TN on Dec 15, 2006. A cute 1 story white brick house with black wrought iron shutters, and a yard just big enough and flat enough to suit our style. There were multiple times Brad thought about proposing, but for one reason or another he didn't. He finally proposed in the backyard by a fire made in our fire pit in October of 2007. The ring was my great grandmother's and it has been passed down. My mother generously gave the ring to Brad to be my engagement ring, which makes the engagement ring that much more near and dear to my heart.
We're getting married bare foot on the beach on Oct 13th, 2008. We chose this destination for the simplicity and beauty of a destination wedding. Any one is welcome to come.
As you may know, we have been planning a small, intimate wedding. To make it special (and keep it small) we've decided to get married in Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. Although we want to have a small and simple wedding weekend, we would love for you to be with us to share in our day and enjoy the beauty of Puerto Plata. We hope you can join us, therefor we are sending you this message so that you can save the date. We will be traveling to Puerto Plata on October 9th. We plan to get married on that Monday afternoon (the 13th), followed by a modest reception or dinner. We realize that this may make it difficult for you to come to Puerto Plata, and we will understand if you can not join us, but our fingers are crossed and we'll be delighted if you can! We think you'll find lots to do and enjoy in Puerto Plata for as long as you choose to stay before or after the wedding. Please give us a call (615-354-7761 Dawn or 615-330-0726 Brad) or contact us via e-mail (dawnmbarker@gmail.com or bhendrix@gmail.com) or in person to let us know of the likelihood of your being in Puerto Plata with us in October. We'd sincerely appreciate it! Fondly, Brad & Dawn
