André and I were both looking for a new start. We met on an online dating site. We had both dated for a year or so and so far had not met anyone with whom we connected on so many levels. We met at a coffee shop after I had dropped my daughter off at her drama practice. (I wanted to have an excuse to get away if things didn't go well ;)) We had chatted online for about 6 weeks before we met. So we meet for coffee and when we order, he says he doesn't actually drink coffee. I thought, he doesn't drink coffee?? This will never work out. lol Anyway we sit and talk, and talk, and talk, and suddenly I realize my phone is ringing in my purse. It is my daughter and she has called me 8 times. She is the last kid there at drama and they are getting worried because I haven't come to get her yet. (I should say that she is 15) We had totally lost track of time and I have to go. So we made plans to go out to dinner the following week and the rest is history. i can remember after a while that I liked everything about this guy. He is romantic and likes holding hands. He is adventurous and has introduced me to the world of scuba diving. Something that I had always wanted to do but that there was never any money to do when the kids were growing up.
I have to admit that I was a little nervous about the fact that he doesn't have any children and was afraid that he would want to have 1 (or 2) My girls were 15 and 19 and I really didn't want to start that again at this stage in my life. Anyway, he has assured me, more than once that he is very glad to be past that stage in life and ready now to just enjoy life with the two of us. Now that the girls are older, 18 and 22 now. Jes will be off to university this year and we will be able to travel and enjoy life. And as far as kids go, he says that he has two girls and is lucky to have missed out on the diaper stage :D And someday we can enjoy grandchildren together.....although not anytime soon we hope lol

The wedding was awesome. Everything I had hoped for and so much more!! Early in the day I was thinking that this was the hottest day we had had yet, but it did manage to cool off some by 5:00 for the ceremony. André dove in the morning with Jake and Bernie and I had breakfast at the buffet with some of the people in our group. After breakfast, I did manage to go down to the beach to catch some sun for about an hour before I had to get moving again :) I met Jes in my room where she helped me put together some gift bags that we had brought for our guests of some mementos of the occasion. As I was to deliver these packages around noon, Jes arranged for a champagne lunch on the patio of the Italian Restaurant. So as our guests gathered for lunch, I met with one of the hotel staff and we delivered the gift bags to our guests rooms. So I arrived fashionably late for lunch and André had returned from his morning dive to join us. It was lovely, and everyone from our group was able to join us there. Good work and Thank you Jes!!! After lunch I went to the spa at 3 to have my hair done for the wedding. Donna was there to have a manicure and took some pictures. Thank you!!
Then it was back to my room where the bridesmaids and Jade and Jes were meeting to dress and for final details. Donna and Ralph brought Champagne and glasses so we could toast before the ceremony. Here's to friends and family. You are the best!!
Then the call came that they were ready for us and we met the groomsmen at the bottom of the stairs where they paired off with the girls and took the path around to the gazebo. Jade and Jes walked on either side of me around to the gazebo and I have to say that when I saw André at the gazebo waiting for me I almost cried. He just looked so handsome and happy there.
The officiant was a bit odd, but it was lovely and after the vows were said and the rings exchanged, we went over to a table with our 6 witnesses and signed the wedding certificate. Then champagne and toasts to amazing friends and we cut the cake. Then pictures on the beach including some lovely sunset pictures.
As it was too early for our dinner reservations, we had drinks by the pool and danced to the trumpet player there. Then dinner at the Pastafari Restaurant where the piano player played O Canada and everyone in the place stood, and we all sang. That was moving!! Then he played "Lady in Red"
The whole day was just perfect!! Thank you to the most amazing group of friends anyone could ask for.
